Shower Monitor

The shower monitor was for a customer who came to us with his ideas well developed.  He asked us to develop the electronics and software.  He took responsibility for the housing.  One of the key requirements for this project was low power consumption, as once the shower monitor was connected to the shower head, it was difficult to change the battery.  We achieved a current drain to provide a  life of 7 years from a Renata CR2032 button cell.  An interesting aspect of this project was the customer’s need to extract survey data from the unit AFTER we had completed the design with no capability for data extraction.  Our design for data extraction involved a novel receiver that could extract a radiated signal from the front control buttons.  We could transfer data at 10 kB/s.
